Create products, services and stock
Manage catalog identity, clinic pricing, packages/base units, batches and stock movements.
Platform · Last verified:
A catalog product identifies what is sold, a stock record tracks what the clinic holds, and a service prices work performed. Creating a product alone does not add physical quantity. Start at Inventory → Products (/inventory/products).
Products and services
- Search by name, barcode or SKU first to avoid duplicate products.
- In New product, enter name, type/category, manufacturer/brand, barcode and unit. Ingredient and strength distinguish similar medicines.
- Configure capacity and base-unit sales only through supported options. Verify offered vaccine catalog mappings.
- Open clinic pricing and stock for the saved product. Identity, purchase cost and clinic selling price are separate.
Services price work rather than holding stock. Check the correct species where species-based pricing exists. Selling a service does not automatically administer every associated medicine/material.
Add stock
Use Add Stock / Add Inventory and select the correct product. Check quantity/unit, purchase cost, location, supplier, batch/lot and expiry when applicable. If creating product and stock together, review both summaries. Use invoice import for a supplier document.
For example, three closed packs with ten doses each are three packs; do not add the equivalent thirty doses into the same count. Opened-pack remainder is tracked separately. Do not guess conversions when labels and screen units disagree.
Opened packs and counting
Select a supported opened-pack source for base-unit consumption. Check remainder, batch and expiry. For counts/corrections, record actual physical quantity and reason; changing selling price does not correct stock.
Read movement reasons—sale, administration, receipt, transfer, count or return—and their package/base-unit scale. Use shortage reconciliation for physical counts versus historical opening stock.
Verify the result
Catalog and pricing explains product/service rules; locations, suppliers and movements covers physical scope; invoice review details OCR and draft recovery.
Inspect location, batch, closed/opened quantities, pricing and latest movement in details. Verify stock and money separately after returns. Check location, tab and in-stock filters when missing. See stock and money and stock issues.
