Plan, administer, and follow up vaccines
Catalog, protocol, and program differences; planned and external records.
Platform · Last verified:
A vaccine record describes a patient's planned or performed operation. Catalogs, protocols, and programs have different purposes; viewing one does not administer a vaccine.
Distinguish the concepts
| Concept | Use |
|---|---|
| Catalog | Find vaccine/procedure names and suitable products |
| Protocol | Review a sequence's dose/follow-up structure |
| Program | Apply a plan containing protocol entries to a patient |
| Patient vaccine record | Patient-specific planning, administration, or history |
| Reminder | Follow-up and delivery tracking |
The Vaccine area provides overview, calendar, records, protocols, programs, and catalog. Available options depend on patient information and record state.
Schedule a vaccine
- Open Schedule Vaccine from patient details or Vaccines → Records.
- Check the patient, catalog/procedure selection, and planned date.
- If using a protocol/program, review its content and dates for this patient.
- Open the created record from the list/calendar. Scheduling does not record administration.
- Check next-dose/follow-up information separately; selecting a program does not mean follow-ups were completed.
Administer a planned record
Open administration from an eligible Vaccine Detail. Check actual date, veterinarian, product, amount, and unit. Distinguish the product from the batch/opened package used as stock source.
When deduction is enabled, verify quantity units and stock selection. A clinical product recorded without tracked consumption does not prove stock deduction. See package/base units.
Complete the offered protocol, manual follow-up, or no-follow-up options according to the real situation. Review warnings; this guide does not choose a clinical protocol for the veterinarian.
After saving, verify vaccine status, actual administration, inventory movements, and any successor plan. Successful administration does not by itself prove that every manual follow-up record exists. Administering a planned record and creating-and-administering a new record are different starting points.
Record external history
For vaccination performed elsewhere, enter the actual date, provider, and supporting information. Do not treat it as a new administration or consumption in your clinic. Search existing history before duplicating an event.
Cancel or reverse administration
Cancelling a plan differs from reversing performed care. Use the offered correction/reversal flow and reason rather than adjusting stock alone. Signed examinations, sales, and linked records can affect eligibility.
Reminders and common questions
A follow-up record and message delivery are distinct. Inspect actual results in reminder delivery logs.
Why is administration unavailable? The record may already be administered/cancelled, predecessor requirements may be unmet, or access may be insufficient.
Does changing a program change existing patient plans? Inspect patient records rather than assuming a template edit automatically updates previously created plans.
