Hospitalization, care tracking, and discharge
Verify patient, room/bed, care team, and discharge results together.

A hospitalization record brings care, room/bed relationships, and tasks together. Check examination, treatment-plan, and sale links separately.
Prepare for admission
Identify patient, admission time, suitable room/bed, and care team. The primary veterinarian differs from the full team. Manage room/bed records under Hospitalization → Rooms and use available active team members.
Create the stay
- Open Create New Hospitalization Record.
- Select patient/room and review any offered bed selection.
- Enter admission, estimated discharge, veterinarian, and team information.
- Reopen the result to verify patient, state, and assignments.
Estimated discharge must follow admission. Dates use the clinic timezone context. If no bed was specified, check the resulting assignment rather than assuming a preferred bed was selected automatically.
Track care
Use Overview, Treatment Plans, Treatment Protocol, and Vital Signs. Link appropriate records through Add / Link Plan, Add Vital, or Link Vital.
Review task time, assignee, and state. Verify performed medication/vitals through administration/measurement records. Editing a task status is not a clinical reversal.
Change room or bed
Inspect current assignments and permitted reassignment actions. Verify the resulting bed and previous assignment state. Occupancy counts and a patient's active assignment are separate information.
Discharge
- Open Discharge for an active stay.
- Review pending medication/vital tasks and other care work.
- Read warnings and confirmation effects; do not make unperformed care appear complete.
- Confirm discharge date, notes, and outcome.
- Verify stay state, ended assignments, and remaining/cancelled tasks.
Discharge can affect pending tasks. Leaving the clinic does not settle customer debt; review sales and collections separately.
Example and common problems
For Kaju's stay, check the care team, today's vital measurement, and today's administration. Review tomorrow's outstanding tasks before discharge. An empty room alone does not prove that the stay was discharged.
Room, team and states
Prepare rooms/beds. Admission requires a room assignment; room-only placement and a specific bed are different choices. Select responsible veterinarian and additional care team separately. Check admission and estimated discharge; estimation must be after admission.
Planned, active, discharged and transferred-to-another-facility are distinct. Hospitalization has no general cancelled state; use eligible discharge/transfer. Moving rooms is not external facility transfer.
Daily fee and sale
Choose an active hospitalization service when offered; check its tax rate and tax-included daily amount. Manual pricing and retaining catalog price differ. Blank and explicit zero fees differ.
If the screen shows two charged days at a gross daily 120, the example total is 240. Use the real record's fee/tax, not the example rate. Current calculated inpatient charge and an earlier saved sale total may differ; collection uses its own flow.
Discharge review and correction
Enter actual discharge day, notes, home care and follow-up in step one. Review date, stay/charge and pending-work warnings in step two. A historical discharge day can change charges; a future date is not today's discharge. If forced discharge is offered, review warning/confirmation without treating pending clinical work as performed. Verify stay state, placement and owner output afterwards.
