Customer and patient records

Where to find customer and patient information in the application.

Platform · Last verified:

In Vetigen, a customer is an animal owner and a patient is an animal. Search for customers on /customers and patients on /patients. Open a record to see its details and the actions available to your account.

Patient details have tabs for related information such as examinations, vaccines, and diagnostics. Visible tabs and edit actions can vary with your role and the record state.

Identity, connections and history

The same person or animal may already have a record at another clinic. Establishing access through an existing customer/PetConnect connection differs from creating another identity. Do not merge records or change ownership based only on similar names.

Patient identity is separate from an examination, sale or visit performed at a clinic. A record existing elsewhere does not make its entire history accessible. Owner application visibility also follows ownership, connections and sharing conditions.

Read record states

Draft and signed examinations, scheduled and administered vaccines represent different outcomes. Appointments schedule meetings, visits track check-in/care/checkout, tasks track team work, and reminders track communication. Completing one does not complete all others. Sales, debts and collections also have distinct meanings.

Time and units

Check clinic timezone for appointments and clinical work; personal preferences or device time may differ. Inspect both day and time when rescheduling. A birth-date day and an administration timestamp represent different information.

Read weight, medication amount and stock quantity together with their units. Boxes, tablets, doses and mL are not interchangeable. Check currency and gross/net values. See stock and money and visits.

Shareable detail links use /customers/[fp] and /patients/[fp]; [fp] stands for the record identifier in the actual link. You need appropriate access to open a link.
