Desktop profiles, PIN and updates

Open the correct account on a shared computer, lock, recover PIN access and update.

Platform · Last verified:

Start at Vetigen Connect's desktop profile screen. Browser sessions do not automatically migrate here. Platform roles and clinic scope still apply.

Add an account and PIN

  1. Wait for accounts to load. Successful empty results offer first-account creation; connection failure offers retry.
  2. Use Add account for full sign-in and verify person/clinic.
  3. Set a six-digit PIN and confirm it in the second step.
  4. Clinical screens stay closed until setup succeeds. Return to setup after cancellation.
  5. Later choose your profile and enter PIN. The sixth digit starts validation; repeated submission does not speed it up.

Wrong PIN, connection failure and cooldown have distinct messages. Forgot PIN or expired profile authority requires full sign-in. Do not assume offline PIN unlock grants clinical access.

Lock, switch and remove profiles

Lock hides clinical content; seeing a profile card does not unlock it. Close/Esc returns from PIN to the picker. Read open-work loss warnings before switching profiles. Cancelling temporary account addition does not automatically delete old work; return with your PIN.

Removal in Manage profiles forgets the account on this computer, not the Vetigen account or clinical records. Remembered Desktop computers can also be managed in personal sessions. Verify identity from name/photo; failed photos fall back to initials.

Platform and viewer

Switch with the sidebar. Opening Viewer does not save an open Platform form. Check image patient, source and revision. Account/clinic changes can alter private-image access.

Updates

Packaged startup may check/install updates; new-version notices/badges appear while running. Finish open text/forms/uploads before installation from Settings or the update dialog. Read restart/PIN warnings. Updates may return to normal PIN startup; session continuation is not guaranteed.

Unattended idle updates require proof that open work is safe. Report an empty dialog, failure or unsupported-version message with app/OS version. Do not disable trust/signature checks. Desktop and Cortex service updates are separate.

Synthetic check

Enroll a test profile, unlock with PIN, then lock/return with an open draft. Verify clinic and preserved work. Profile switching/update acceptance needs the installed OS/version; source support alone proves neither Windows nor macOS acceptance.
